About Me Hmmm... I'm a Big Beautiful Woman with a Bawdy Sense of Humor. I have fun wherever I go or whomever I'm with. Life is for living, so I'm living it out loud!!!!

Music My tastes are eclectic. I like anything from delta blues (love this),classical,rock,soul,... bluegrass, instrumental to metal and grunge. I haven't any time in my life for RAP or freeform jazz, both simply irritate the crap out of me.
Movies I am a Netflixer and watch just about everything that comes along. My absolute favorites are the old movies, black and white, 30's-50's and the Rogers and Hammerstein type Musicals all technicolor and cinemascope...I love those!
TV Cop/lawyer shows,Discovery and TLC, American Idol...I know, I know.... Dirt, The Dresden Files and on the weekend, all the old B&W movies I can stand.
Books Christine Feehan, her Dark series (Goddess I want to be a Carpathian Woman!!!!!) Anne Rice in her vampire days, John Sanford, Scott Cunningham (thank you God/dess for that gift) and any other "craft" authors I can find. I have a large pagan library at home and I see it getting much bigger. If only I had back, all the books I've loaned out over the years.....*sigh*
Likes I find joy in so many things....my Circle Sisters, the colors of Indigo and Aurora, Friday Nights at the Bottom, Ginger Snapdog and my little Ball of Earth, oh, and dirty martinis...really dirty martinis.
Dislikes Energy junkies that won't raise their own. The "It's All About Me" syndrome the world has been infected with. People who won't share. The toilet paper coming from under instead of over and most of all..... alarm clocks, they are an abomination against nature.
Hobbies huh? leave the Casita de la Bruja? I'm a nester, I stay home mostly unless a road trip is planned and then it's the journey I enjoy the most. I read, but mostly to snuggle into bed and put my mind elsewhere. I do volunteer at the prison as Wiccan clergy, but that really isn't a hobby is it? I guess I really don't have one...wow....
Vices cigarettes, men, dirty martinis, a bawdy mouth and not necessarily in that order.
Virtues I guess I would need others to "acknowledge" my virtues... I'm not quite sure whether I'm altruistic enough to say so myself.

    The Rosary and Me

Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 10:25 PM MST [General]

As I've mentioned in my profile, I volunteer as Ordained Pagan Clergy, HPs Lady Jerusha, in AZ's Department of Correction facilities near my home.

The other night, I went to facilitate an early Beltaine Rite in a Unit I visit and the Correction Officer that "shook" me down (screened me for contraband etc) seemed miffed at my mere presence. As we were walking through the last gate opening onto the prison yard, I noticed that he had taken his Rosary out of his pocket and was carrying it in his hand. I was almost offended and wanted to laugh at the same time......what I DID do was bite my tongue when the words "that won't help you" fluttered through my mind!~

    Earth Witch...DUH!

What kind of witch are you?

You are an Earth Witch! The Material Element of Earth is at your command. You feel out of your skin when confined to the indoors but instantly feel better once your bare feet are touching the Earth you love so much. You nurture all things you feel need nurturing and don't care what people think of you for it. Blunt to the point of having no tact, you don't like to beat around the bush, no pun intended. It takes a lot to get you riled up, but Goddess help the poor soul who gets to you. They'll probably end up 6 feet under... or deeper.Common Powers:Geokinesis- the ability to move rock and metal with one's mindFlorakinesis- the ability to control trees, plants, and flowers with one's mindHealing touch- the ability to heal another person with their touchShapeshifting- the ability to take on the form and abilities of another

MADISON, Wis. - The Wiccan pentacle has been added to the list of emblems allowed in national cemeteries and on goverment-issued headstones of fallen soldiers, according to a settlement announced Monday.

A settlement between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Wiccans adds the five-pointed star to the list of "emblems of belief" allowed on VA grave markers.

Eleven families nationwide are waiting for grave markers with the pentacle, said Selena Fox, a Wiccan high priestess with Circle Sanctuary in Barneveld, Wis., a plaintiff in the lawsuit.

The settlement calls for the pentacle, whose five points represent earth, air, fire, water and spirit, to be placed on grave markers within 14 days for those who have pending requests with the VA.

"I am glad this has ended in success in time to get markers for Memorial Day," Fox said.

The VA sought the settlement in the interest of the families involved and to save taxpayers the expense of further litigation, VA spokesman Matt Burns said. The agency also agreed to pay $225,000 in attorneys' fees and costs.

The pentacle has been added to 38 symbols the VA already permits on gravestones. They include commonly recognized symbols for Christianity, Buddhism, Islam and Judaism, as well as those for smaller religions such as Sufism Reoriented, Eckiankar and the Japanese faith Seicho-No-Ie.

"This settlement has forced the Bush Administration into acknowledging that there are no second class religions in America, including among our nation's veterans," said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, which represented the Wiccans in the lawsuit.

The American Civil Liberties Union said the agreement also settles a similar lawsuit it filed last year against the VA. In that case, the ACLU represented two other Wiccan churches and three individuals.

VA-issued headstones, markers and plaques can be used in any cemetery, whether it is a national one such as Arlington or a private burial ground like that on Circle Sanctuary's property.

Wicca is a nature-based religion based on respect for the earth, nature and the cycle of the seasons. Variations of the pentacle not accepted by Wiccans have been used in horror movies as a sign of the devil.

    A new face

Monday, March 12, 2007, 09:47 PM MST [General]

We had a pleasant surprise from the landlady....she is painting the casita! WooooooHoooooo!

We had asked her if it would be ok if we painted the house and took the supplies off the rent and she said fine but Saturday morning we had a knock at the door and it was a painter asking to start pressure washing the outside. We were very suprised, now it will be one color instead of many. We will still have to choose a color and paint the trim ourselves...well only because we want to. I'd rather it have some accent to it that looking like a plain mud brown lump.

When it's all finished I'll post another picture.

I'm sure we are being rewarded for loving the house even though we don't own it.
